21st Panzer Division - Normandy 1944 - StuG Batterie

Recently I finished a StuG Batterie for the 21st Panzer Division in Normany - using Milicast models.  Two 75mm SP PzKfw 39H(f) and one 105mm SP PzKfw 39H(f) to be exact.  Each of them is crewed with AB figures Panzer Jager crews.

And here are some close-ups of the crews.  I tried out a few different camo patterns - mainly on their trousers - really just for a bit of fun.

These trousers are meant to be Autumn Oak leaf

The chap on the left is wearing Italian Cam trousers (well my take on it)

1940 French - other vehicles

Continuing the French theme - here are some other vehicles that I will be using:

First up - a Laffly W-15 TCC - by ACE Models with a Battlefield Miniatures crewman:

 

Next - a couple of S-Model Renault UE Chenillette that I use as my AT gun tows

Next - a Cromwell Models (well I'm pretty sure it's a Cromwell) Laffly V15T with an AB Figures crewman

And finally my slightly dodgy use of a Hobbyden Citreon van (post war) as an early war Radio Truck!  Well it looks that part to me anyway...

I guess one day if I ever get the correct vehicle I'll sway this out... one day....

Finishing off a Late War German Panzergrenadier Platoon

Happy New Year!

I'll be attempting to reinvigorate the blog a little this year wiuth some more frequent posting.

First up will be the final figures from the Late WW2 German Panzergrenadier Platoon I started by showing the Platoon Command Team here

I'll post up the rest of the platoon in sections/squads - split into two photos each of a Rifle Team and a Medium Machine Gun Team.

I feel that I can use these guys from Normandy to Berlin, as Panzergrenadiers or Volksgrenadiers - so I'm pretty chuffed with that.

British Late War Assorted Infantry

To finish up this little thread of British Late War kit, I have a few infantry I also finished recently.  First up two 3" Mortar Teams - all be AB Figures:

Milicast Comet

Another recent addition to my late-war WW2 British is this beautiful Milicast Comet (not beautiful because I painted - just a beautiful kit!).  The only thing I've added is a couple of AB Figures crewmen.

So there you go.  Great tank - works very well in BG: Fall of the Reich - even on its lonesome.

25pdr 2 Gun Battery

Over the weekend I started and finished a project for a quick build run on The Guild

This is what I had on Saturday morning:

Basicaly that's a couple of Altaya 25 pdrs, broken down into bits, 8 AB British 25 pdr crew figures and 2 GW 60mm bases previosuly covered in spakfilla.

An hour or so later and the 25 pdrs had been sprayed black and then sprayed British Armour Green (using PSC sprays), the bases had been painted Vallejo Green Brown, and I'd started base coating the figures.

A little while later and the guns were essentially finished (washed and then dry-brushed up) while the figures had had a couple more colours added.

That night I added grass to the bases, and then the next day dry-brushed the wheels, and finished all the base colours on the figures.

I then washed the figures with Army painter Quickshade strong tone wash - not the dip.  I'd never used the product before, and had picked it up as my dip had dried up.  I was very impressed with the results.

Once dry, I highlighted the figures with the original colours.  I did not bother with their faces, or helmets as I was quite happy with the look given by the wash.  I then added pins to 1 foot of each figure to help them be fixed to the bases.

And here's the final look:

So that's it.  One 2 gun battery painted over a weekend (probably in 5 or 6 hours) with plenty of time to spare.  Quite interesting to see what can be achieved if I put my mind to it, am prepared, and don't muck around.
