OMG - 40K!!??!!

 It's been over 25 years or so but I recently painted some equally old 40K models for a game a mate and I have planned using the 1998 3rd Edition rules.  Rather than run a painted force I've held on to for 20 plus years, I thought I'd have a crack at an urban based Tyranid force.  It's not complete yet but here are the first few units

30 Day (well 15 day) Kit Build Challenge

Over on the Wargamer's Forum (previously known as The Guild) they are doing a 30 day Kit Building Challenge.  I've come into this 15 days late - so am limiting what I intend to do to these two shelf queens that I've owned for quite a few years now.

They will form the start of my 20mm BEF force for France 1940 games.  If they turn out to be really easy, I might add a couple of other things to the build. 

So I've finished the first kit:

Meet the Normans - Part 1

It's been a very long time since I posted here and I am going to try and revive this blog a little bit as I try to expand my gaming beyond the Cold War a little bit more.  So here's the new me!

I really like the concept of SAGA (hey - I'm a late adopter) but have only had the chance to play it a couple of time and that was several years ago.  From that experience - and the experience of visiting Bayeux and see the Bayeux Tapestry, I had to collect Normans with the aim of also collecting Anglo-Danes at some point in time.

So I bought a few of the Conquest Games plastic figures and some Gripping beast archers and crossbowmen.  Over the next few posts I show off what I've done so far - starting with a group of 8 Warriors made from Conquest Games Norman Infantry:

I actually really like these figures.  They are easy to put together, easy to pose, easy to paint, take the "dip" method well, and the shield transfers work really well.

So there they are.  More soon

Revell Ju-87 Stuka

Well I can honestly say I don't think I'll make or paint another Stuka for the rest of my life!  Two in 1 lifetime is enough...

21st Panzer Division - Normandy 1944 - StuG Batterie

Recently I finished a StuG Batterie for the 21st Panzer Division in Normany - using Milicast models.  Two 75mm SP PzKfw 39H(f) and one 105mm SP PzKfw 39H(f) to be exact.  Each of them is crewed with AB figures Panzer Jager crews.

And here are some close-ups of the crews.  I tried out a few different camo patterns - mainly on their trousers - really just for a bit of fun.

These trousers are meant to be Autumn Oak leaf

The chap on the left is wearing Italian Cam trousers (well my take on it)
